Elephant & Castle Town Centre are sponsoring the Local Lockdown Hero award. Find out from Diana Barranco, the Elephant and Castle Town Centre Community Director why it was important we got involved. “Everyone knows how difficult the last year and a half has been for everyone in Southwark and beyond. But during the darkest depths of the lockdown some of our brightest stars in the local community shone through, going above and beyond to offer help, support and a sense of reassurance to their neighbours, colleagues, customers, friends, families and more often than not perfect strangers. We have seen that first hand in Elephant & Castle with some of our incredible traders and local businesses pulling together to help those who needed it during the lockdown. We are so proud to be sponsoring this award, which is a very small way for us to say a very big thank you to the local heroes who have helped our communities throughout the last 18 months.” This category really highlights some of the lengths businesses went to, to support their local community throughout the pandemic. Their positivity and effort was needed by so many in the borough and shows a real sense of community spirit.
