08.07.2021 Minor amendments to Elephant and Castle Town Centre scheme approved by Southwark Council

On Tuesday 6 July, Southwark Council overwhelmingly resolved to grant consent to a Section 73 planning application, brought forward by the Elephant and Castle Town Centre team, for minor amendments to the existing consented scheme.

These amendments are a natural design evolution from the initial proposals, which were initially submitted in 2016, and will allow us to deliver significant improvements for everyone in Elephant and Castle. The new consented plans include changes to the mix of retail, leisure and workspace, and an increase in the number of affordable homes, as well as family sized homes.

With demolition works well underway and due to be complete by the end of this year, the exciting future of Elephant and Castle is drawing closer, and these new amendments will add to that.

The Elephant and Castle Town Centre team will continue to engage with the local community and we welcome the support we have received from residents, traders and visitors to the area alike.
