27.09.2022 Gatsby Gala Celebrates Best of Southwark Business
Southwark businesses put their glad rags on and broke out their best Charleston at the Southwark Business Excellence Awards last month. The annual awards were a chance to celebrate the outstanding work that local businesses do, both in terms of achieving their own goals and being champions of the best social and environmental business practices in Southwark.
The Elephant and Castle Town Centre team was proud to sponsor the Contribution to the Community Award. The category recognised businesses who go the extra mile to give back to local people, and we were excited to have so many great entries for the award.
On the night Diana Barranco, Community Director at Elephant and Castle Town Centre, presented the award to the team at Bizzie Bodies for their excellent work providing classes for the local community.
She said, “on behalf of the Elephant and Castle Town Centre team I’d like to say a huge congratulations to Bizzie Bodies. Their great work in the community provides classes for local children, giving them a chance to get involved with creative learning activities when they may not have the means to otherwise.
“This is the fourth year our team has sponsored these awards and we are always amazed at how local businesses go above and beyond for the community. A huge congratulations to all the nominees and winners, and we can’t wait to see you all again next year!”
Alongside Bizzie Bodies, the big winners on the night were the team at Jim & Tonic, a local gin distillery at Elephant and Castle’s very own Mercato Metropolitano. Jim & Tonic took home a whopping four awards – a record for the event – including Business of the Year! Well done to them and all the wonderful winners on the night!
