29.03.2021 ELEPHANT & CASTLE WELCOMES BACK THE COMMUNITY TO CASTLE SQUARE THIS SPRING ALONGSIDE A FUN-FILLED LINE-UP OF VIRTUAL EVENTS

Zone 1’s Elephant & Castle is providing a range of activities for Londoners to enjoy this Spring. Elephant & Castle’s new shopping destination Castle Square is welcoming back the community with free live entertainment across the weekend of the 15th April, with all entertainment adhering to the latest government guidelines on social distancing.

Local restaurants such as Pizzeria Pappagone, TUPI, Coma Y Beba, Kaieteur Kitchen, El Guambra, Original Caribbean Spice and Daddy O’s will also be swinging open their doors to celebrate the return to restaurants with options for outdoor dining and takeaway. Support local, whilst tucking into a tasty dish, from April 12th. Traders offering fashion, textiles, electrical products and services will also be reopening at Castle Square and Ash Avenue on April 12th so be sure to pop by and discover what they have in store.

And for those at home, Elephant & Castle’s Virtual Community Hub continues to offer an action-packed schedule of events celebrating all things Spring. Join the community for Elephant & Castle’s very own Spring Celebration to mark the end of lockdown on 11th April for the opportunity to take part in a quiz, craft activities and a fashion parade, there will also be performances from the community hubs very own choir and Upside Down Dance Academy.

For  children, the Virtual Community Hub is teaming up with local charity Art in the Park to bring Fairytale Children workshops – free creative workshops including storytelling, drawing, collaboration and prop making. For the young creatives, the Community Hub will continue to offer free virtual arts and craft workshops – Kid’s Creation Station-Live Sessions with sessions including Easter Decoration making and sessions on optical illusions!

For aspiring entrepreneurs, the Elephant & Castle Community Hub is presenting an inspiring workshop hosted by local Apex College on Thursday 8th April on how to become an entrepreneur. The event will focus on coming up with a business idea, will question what makes a good entrepreneur and practical tips on how to start your own business.

The hub have also recently teamed up with Arthritis Action who on Thursday 8th April are hosting a free workshop on how to manage symptoms of arthritis with confidence, listen in to learn more about their integrated self-management approach.

Free entertainment at Castle Square

What: Free entertainment across the weekend for all the family to enjoy whilst passing on their walks, with a further opportunity to visit the local traders providing a wide range of products and services.

A Springtime Celebration

What: An event run by Virtual Community Hub to celebrate the Spring season and a brighter future. The event will include a fashion parade, a quiz, a choir performance and craft activities plus viewings of short films that celebrate all the hard work of our frontline workers.

How to become an entrepreneur!

What: An inspiring workshop hosted by Apex College on how to become an entrepreneur. This event is aimed at those who want to start their own business but are unsure on where to start. It will talk about getting a business idea, personal characteristics of a good entrepreneur and all the practical things connected to starting your own business, such as developing a business plan, choosing business type, obtaining funding, organising marketing activities and many more. The workshop is delivered by lecturers from Apex College London, a college located in Elephant & Castle.

Art in the Park – Fairytale Children Workshops

What: Free creative workshops in partnership with local charity Art in the Park, including storytelling, drawing, collaboration and prop making.

Arthritis Action

What: A free workshop from Arthritis Action on how to manage the symptoms of arthritis with confidence. Arthritis Action offers an integrated self-management approach which looks at both the mental and physical health impact of living with arthritis. The talk will be an opportunity to learn more about physical activity, diet, pain management, pacing and much more.
