Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre – what do you want to see?

On Thursday 19 June, the owners of Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre host the first of three consultation events as they look to develop a comprehensive plan for the future of Elephant & Castle town centre.

The session, which will run between 4pm and 6pm in the shopping centre as part of the initial stages of the development process, with further events scheduled for 10 July and 24 July. The news follows the purchase of the centre by APG and an investment fund advised by Delancey in December 2013.

A spokesperson from Delancey, commented: “We are excited about embarking on the initial stages of the planning process. This is very much a listening exercise, as we shape our plans for the regeneration of the area. We hope that, through these drop-in sessions, we will be able to capture why people love the Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre and determine what they would like for the future of the town centre.

“Our overall ambition is to create a thriving town centre and vibrant retail hub, with excellent transport connectivity and transformed interchanges, and new homes for Londoners. The redevelopment of the Shopping Centre offers a unique opportunity to realise this goal.”

Delancey is already a long-term investor in the area, with construction underway for new residential accommodation on the adjacent Elephant Road site. Combining the two schemes, Delancey’s overall ambition is to transform Elephant & Castle over the coming years, in line with its large-scale residential investment strategy and other developments underway in the area.
