New jobs

Over £1 billion will be invested into the local economy through the new Elephant and Castle Town Centre.

During construction, almost 2,000 full time jobs will be created on site per year over the 10-year build time. A significant number of these will be offered locally, providing much-needed jobs people using Elephant and Castle, and Southwark.

Post-construction, there will be almost 2,000 full time jobs in the new town centre, an increase of 570. This will include a wide range of jobs with affordable retail and workspace sitting alongside national brands.

The development will deliver a cutting-edge new building for UAL’s London College of Communication and ensure education will stay at the heart of the town centre. This will also secure hundreds of existing jobs currently based at the College in Elephant and Castle and bring an additional 500 (approx) jobs to the area through the relocation of UAL's core university services, increasing local employment opportunities.

  • The amount of benefits that this development will bring will transform Elephant and Castle to a better place in terms of community engagement, residential quality and proper commercial enterprises.
